Everything Still Works

We had another trip down to Grand Rapids to see his Neurosurgeon. He had an Ultrasound in the afternoon. Me, Atreyu and Ezra left early to meet Emily and Carson in Grand Rapids to hang out at a park. It just makes the trips down the GR much more fun.

During the head ultrasound the  boys did great. I thought Atreyu would have a break down because Ezra’s appointments were during nap. But Atreyu did good, and almost fell asleep while Ezra was getting his u/s. After that we headed to see his doctor so he could tell us how awesome Ezra is doing. Which the doctor agreed. His head and shunt look like they are doing great.

Ezra getting his scan.

Atreyu enjoying a book during the appointment.

One of the joys of getting a head Ultrasound is the cool hair-do from the gel.

Hanging out in his Bumbo with his rockstar hair.

It was a long day but we are happy to be home as always.

Warm Days

It has been great for to spend lots of time outside. Atreyu loves it. He thinks about it from the moment he wakes up. The other day he brought me his coat and said “go”, it was 8am and 75 degrees, just whatever can get him out there I guess.

We put water in his hair to cool off. Dave had a little fun messing with Atreyu’s hair

Another awesome thing about warm weather is that we get to eat outside. Which means we get to use the grill, and I don’t have a sweep. Not that that is a huge chore, just one less thing.

Also my strawberries plants are getting bigger! I can’t wait till they are ready to pick.

Here are Atreyu and Ezra after their nap. Ezra looks like he got punched in the eye but he was just sleeping on that side.

And Ezra is getting so good at putting toys in his mouth.

Now after a couple cooler days I am ready for those warms days again.

Pool Time

This last weekend we were able to head over to the pool and go for a swim. Atreyu hated it of course. after about a half hour of crying he started having fun. Ezra was so continent the whole time.

Atreyu did start liking it. He was confused as to why Ezra was swimming towards him.

Atreyu playing a little in the water. Eventually he even started walking around and playing in the fountain. Hopefully next time we go back he will like it a little more.

4 months old

Ezra had his normal 4 month check up this week. technically he had it when being almost 5 months, but close enough. He is 12 lbs 6 oz. 24 in tall. He is growing so well, even though he is still small.

I had the camera on him for a few minutes trying to get a smile, a tongue sticking out, a really adorable frown, just something! But nope, Ezra just was so content.

Last week we went down to Grand Rapids to follow up with his Urologist. We woke up bright and early to make our 9 am appointment. He had an ultrasound to make sure his bladder and kidneys are still health, and they are. Since Ezra can’t feel what is going on with his bladder and whether or not he needs to pee we need to continue to monitor everything to make sure it is emptying and working. Once his bladder is full the pee just leaks out, which is fine for a baby but as he gets older there are options we will look at to help him not need to be in diapers. But for now he gets to be a baby.

Later the family spent the day around Grand Rapids and we met some other Spina Bifida parents for lunch. It was nice to chat and catch up. We are blessed to have other parents to talk and relate too.
